I processed one large image today (100mp resolution) and was appalled by the impact enhance photo had on it. I did not and still do not like the face recovery tool at all AND I believe the Enhance Photo option is outright dangerous. This morning I updated from the previous version of Photo AI (I missed 9 updates) and lots of improvements seem to have been made. If I crop in and need more pixels than I resize with GigaPixel AI before using either of the other modules. I previously used the Beta version and almost immediately went back to my process of running Topaz DeNoise AI first and only using Sharpening AI when there were issues in the image where perhaps further AI sharpening could help. I am running a Mac Studio Ultra and it is very quick even when processing a 500MB 16-bit TIF file. I had the beta version and now have updated to v1.0 (it is still free to me this year). The good news with current customers of the Image Quality Bundle is you get Photo AI for free, so no harm checking it out. People are asking for manual masking with brushes.įace enhancement currently exists in Gigapixel (I see Lucky Duck just mentioned that). I was of the opinion that they could have just added functionality to the existing Topaz Studio, but it seems Topaz is moving away from creative effects toward enhancement only (intending to be best in class in those areas).Īs for comparison, some are saying Resize is exceeding the capabilities of Gigapixel. In past times Topaz' offerings were getting very crowded. I understand from the Topaz forum discussions with the developers that they intend to finish the migration of all standalone capabilities to Photo AI and proceed from there going forward. Photo AI currently has the base functionalities of all 3 standalones included, but the fine tuning is still taking place. Catching up with you east coast and overseas guys!
